Here are some info about the mech I want to design. Realistic, remote controlled and small enough to fit in the small streets of Asia (or jungle and forest). Very similar to Patlabor except smaller ( maybe the size of a basketball player?). I will also need a control/commend truck to control the mech.
By the way, for this design I'd like to go with a biped design with a head since it's there not only to kill, I mean serve and protect, but also to represent it's human counterpart (Cop and SWAT?)
At first I was going for the Honda Asimo looking design (#6 on the attached thumbnail), but it doesn't look very exciting and not memorable enough? Not much character?
#1 and #3 are good for space opera? Save those for later.
#5 and #8, too much Ghost in the Shell? And I like biped better for this project (there goes #7). It's there because I was trying to explore other designs.
#4 is just too Mech Warriorish?
#2 is ugly but kind of interesting for me, tho not realistic enough?
I guess I have trouble getting a realistic but exciting looking mech (function V.S. design?)
Any mech you've seen that fits the description in the beginning of this post?
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. I hope all that stuff made some sense.
Thanks
Rei

Since I don't see a reply yet here's my 5 cents. I'm partial to either # 1, 4 or 5. Looking at them I think I like 5 the best, as it doesn't look like a transformed shuttle like #1 or a Hunter Killer tank from Terminator like #4. Maybe you could whittle it down to just 2 designs that you like, brainstorm/sketch some different versions of those until you find something you are happy with?

Thanks Andrew, I have been playing around with #5. Like you said, I will pick one more, maybe #6, and do more variations of that.
